Braved the wind...4 fish, around 8 bites or so. Must have been some short fish because it didnt appear they could take the whole bait.

Little Gap to Crystal lake is where we fished. 2 on umbrellas and 2 on bait. 1 nice keeper probably around 26 inches or so. Released.

All in all I thought it was decent day considering the conditions and for my first trip on Murray this year. Have fished Clarks Hill for striper several times already this year and honestly I marked more fish and more bait on Murray then I did on my trips to Clarks Hill.

Water was definitely murky/muddy in all areas around Dreher Island.

Glad you had a decent day. Our lake's not that bad after all Is it?

I'm headed out in a few for some perch jerkin' and maybe a little casting for stripers if I find them piled up and feeding. Would have been out there yesterday, but I did not want to deal with 20+ mph winds when I didn't have to do so. Hats off to you for trying.

Kept 27 nice perch and 3 largies in the 3 pound class. I fished Beaver Dam and Bear Creeks. Fish were caught in depths of 34-42 feet with the flexit spoon tiesd below a curly tail crappie jig. Sometimes they'd get the spoon, and other times they would get the jig. All the perch I kept were 3/4 to slightly better than a pound. It was easily a 40+ fish afternoon. The mud line doesn't really go down too far below TImerlakes. The water is stained around Shull Point but certainly not unfishable.

I'll get serious about Murray stripers again after the Clarks Hill tournament. Rick and I will be off to the Hill next weekend to see what's going on over there.

Good luck on the Hill...January was a rough month but I would expect them to start heating up a bit more if we can sustain some weather in the 50's....

Of course, that will be the case everywhere...

10-4. The Hill will be a real challenge with all the cold, muddy water.

Take care and keep 'em bending!
