Well, did you have any luck?
In the past, when I fished for cats, I would fish overnight in the rediversion canal during this time of year.....

| Caught 5 keepers in about 3 hrs. Wind picked up and the the bite slowed. Still a good time. This post is about 3 weeks old. How is the bite at night lately? |

Good going!
Yeah, I was aware of the age of this topic, I was just curious on your production.
I do not check this site that much during this time of year. Come striper season, I hope to post some good reports, though!!
The canal and the areas around the dam should produce. I will try to contact a friend of mine that fishes for cats a lot and see what the story is. Good luck in the future!!

| Yea, I read your posts on here quite often. Always good to hear about what going on in the lake. I thought the stripers were gone out of the lower lake. Took a guide trip about 6 years ago and tore them up. Are you still catching them on the lower lake? |

Yep, last season I did well trolling and casting bucktails. Although the bucktails did not produce many, if any keepers, it was fun! Around the end of October was when the fishing got good (for me anyway). That continued pretty much until mid December. I caught my biggest striper on October 30th that was 38". That was a pretty good size for the lower lake, at least in recent times. I also catch a lot of big cats trolling the plugs. When the season nears, hit me up....

38" is a Monster these days. Hot water coming out of my tap so I guess Moultrie is a hot tub. I think this year we have good flow so hopefully no kills. Fishing should be real good this year IMHO.
Lots of bait in the main channel upper lake already. Headed your way. Catfish are biting good up towards Taw Caw. I guess I should post a report on the Marion thread.
Here's a first to report. Caught two mudminnows (giant ones) while bream fishing in the upper lake. Talk about some awesome live bait. |
