Started out early in C-4 drifting DR’s in 50 to 70 ft of water at 35 to 50 ft down, after about one hour and only 3 short fish, decided to throw out the anchor over some nice fish we drifted over. After about 45 min. of watching fish swim under the boat and not even sniffing the bait, we decided on plan C, trolling u-rigs. Again trolling in 50 to 70 ft of water in C-4 with the downrigger set at 25 to 35 ft down and the u-rig 40 ft behind the ball we were able to pick up 7 more fish 6 in the 18 to 20 range and one over 22 inches. Moved to D-3 and trolled around submerged humps at about the same depths as before. We picked up 3 more fish with one keeper over 21 inches. After lunch moved to the towers and pulled DR’s at 30 to 40 ft down for a little while with out a bite. A couple of boats did pick up a coupe of very small fish while we were watching. We had a great day on the water with two nice fish for the table. Looking forward to next week.
It was good to see you guys yesterday. The live bait bite was kind of slow. Rick and I did end up keeping 5 for the box with the biggest around 7 pounds. For some reason, we were all over fish all morning but they were very reluctant to bite. Happens some times.
